The Young Mothers Project (YMP) is specifically targeted at young mothers within the community and staff. The main objectives of the project include empowering young women to support themselves and their families through the provision of a forum that will allow for them to express their fears and concerns as well as gain valuable input from other women who share similar circumstances.

The project also acts as an outreach to undeserved young women in the community who may require social and material assistance.

The impetus for this project grew from an evident need that many young women of the Westbury community struggle daily with the realities of being a single parent while some may not even have access to adequate family planning services or other resources that can assist with the raising of their children.

The project thus aims to provide a space where these women can vent their frustrations to each other, give suggestions, participate in problem solving discussions, and allow them to concentrate on themselves outside of their family boundaries.

The focus is for these women not only to develop in their role as a parent but also as a woman.
