The Youth Enrichment Project (YEP) is the original programme at CFL and so in many ways our grass roots lie in this project. We have quickly grown to where we are today from this starting point for CFL. Today, the YEP remains central in our strategy to target the youth.
The purpose of the YEP is to empower school aged children aged 5-14. We try to support youth in their learning at school and help improve their academic performance. Our services include the provision of a safe after-school environment for children; holiday camps; and teaching peace-making skills through games with regular school visits.
The YEP also works to involve parents and the community in the lives of children, promote strong personal & social values, and improve access for youth to social and recreational activities. Our Parent and Community Workshops targets the parents of youths involved in YEP and YAR.
After School Programme
On weekdays, we offer an After-School programme where youths receive assistance on their school work as well as participate in our Life Skills curriculum. Upon their arrival, youth receive a hot meal everyday

Holiday Camps
Another part of the After School Programme is to take the youth on excursions in the Johannesburg area to introduce them to new social and recreational activities.
Recently visited places have been the Westdene Dam, South African Blind Workers Organisation, Westbury community pool, and a weekend camp at our Dreamlands facility.

Just For Kids Peace Games
The Just For Kids (JFK) Peace Games brings children from conflicting cultures together through cooperative play to promote a positive relationship among people who have a history of intercultural tension. By bringing children together from unique backgrounds, values, and beliefs through the seemingly simple act of play, seeds of compassion are sown for a more peaceful today and tomorrow.

A Typical JFK Play Session...
Each Just For Kids Play Session begins with the introduction of the theme for the day as well as an icebreaker activity. Once the youth’s minds and bodies are ready for action, the facilitators lead the group in 2 to 3 games, each game focusing on a particular aspect of the theme. To conclude the play session, the facilitators lead a group debriefing discussion where the youths have an opportunity to express their feelings and explain what they have learned during the games. Each Just For Kids Play Session runs for 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the needs of the youth, church and the school.
