This is one of CFL’s most recently implemented projects, and presents a new opportunity to tackle youth unemployment in our community. It is essentially a project training youths how to set up their own business and started in 2002.

Some youths in the business studies class
A six month course is offered free of charge to youths aged 18-25. Following a two week business skills course, each youth chooses a trade skills course of their choice. Courses offered include:
Electrical Appliance and House Wiring
Upholstery Making
Detergent Making
In the future we would like to expand the trade skills courses offered. On completion of the six month course, a certificate is awarded to each participant. We run the electricity course in partnership with Lungisa and the qualification is recognised by employers in the trade, and is also a stepping stone to more advnaced training in electricity. We are seeking accreditation of the certificates in our other courses.
